Architectural workshop - September 2016 From September 1 to 5 in Sukhum at the site Sklad the first stage of the architectural workshop was held together with young Abkhaz architects and the Berlin architectural bureau Raumlabor. The first stage is the study of the environment - how the city dwellers live, where they go to drink coffee, where the gathering places of the city communities are, what streets connect parks and squares, where we all live, where we go to work, where are the favorite places for a beach holiday, where the summer parties are held, what architectural monuments surround us, what transport takes us to different areas of the city and what routes it goes, what do the bus stops look like, where bike paths are needed, where food is sold, where do the minibuses to the border go from and many, many questions that need to be formulated in order to draw a real map of the city and identify pressing problems and understand what we all, the city residents, need like air and how to make our dreams come true. During the work, Marius Bush gave a presentation on Raumlabor's urban projects in different countries of the world and answered questions from the audience in detail. Over the course of five days, the workshop participants visited various locations in the city - local furniture manufacturers, craft workshops, architectural monuments of different eras, residential buildings within the city and made a map of the points and nodes that we all need, so that the city turns to face the people. Throughout September, on Tuesdays, the warehouse will host film screenings on the topic of urbanism and each visitor will be able to add their ideas and suggestions for improving the urban space directly to our map.
